Keeper's House

There is no electricity or telephones at the inn: evening lighting is provided by gas lights, candles and kerosene lanterns, moon beams and, occasionally, the northern lights.

All meals are included in the room rates, featuring fresh local seafood prepared with a gourmet touch. Guests are served family-style in the dining room facing the light tower.

Deer, osprey, seal and porpoise visit the lighthouse by land and sea. The solitary trails of Acadia are at our doorstep and a short walk to the north will bring you to the island's tiniy fishing village.

The Keeper's House is on the National Register of Historic Places and has been featured in scores of national publications, but the experience here is not for everyone: the remote nature of the island and the frontier ambiance at the lighthouse beckon the adventurous traveler who knows how to find gratification in the splendor of thick wood and virgin shore.
