The Hancock Inn is truly one of New England's historic treasures. It was built in 1789 the first year of George Washington's Presidency. It is the oldest original inn in New Hampshire and one of the oldest in New England and has been serving weary travelers from rum runners to Presidents since it's beginnings.This beautifully restored inn houses a restaurant, U.S. Air magazine calls the "New" New England Cooking. Waitstaff in authentic costumes present beautifully prepared and thoroughly delicious food to tempt the palate of the most discriminating dinner.
The charming guestrooms all have canopy or four poster beds, handmade quilts and all the amenities of the Twentieth Century. Some even have deep soaking tubs and fireplaces.
