Our community of Kekaha is an old sugar plantation village at the foot of Waimea Canyon, which Mark Twain called "The Grand Canyon of the Pacific".The new (1995) two bedroom cottages feature open beam ceilings, wood floors, indirect lighting, and large windows with a view of the waves. Fully insulated, with ceiling fans in every room, and raised above the bananas and papayas on 10 foot pilings to capture the trade breezes. Three of the five rooms in each cottage feature pocket doors which slide into the wall to provide an open feeling. A King sized bed in the master bedroom, two twins in the second bedroom, and a sleeper sofa in the living room means each cottage can accommodate up to six. The full kitchen with range, refrigerator, icemaker, blender, microwave, pots, pans, dishes and glassware is stocked with bacon and eggs, waffles, bagels, fresh fruit, coffee and juice.
