British Owned Gästehaus am Berg is on the lower slopes of the Grosser Arber mountain (1456m), on the edge of the quiet border village of Bayerisch Eisenstein, with all village amenities, including restaurants and shops. The Bavarian Forest National Park and the Czech border are within a few minutes walk.

Our friendly Guesthouse has 13 bedrooms. All of which have en-suite shower rooms, hand-basins and toilets. Most rooms have balconies & lovely views. Each room has German satellite TV, DVD player, hairdryer, tea & coffee-making facilities & a file of local information, places to visit, restaurants, etc. (in both English & German). There are 2 single rooms, 8 double rooms and 3 three-bedded (1 double and 1 single bed) rooms. A cot is available at no extra cost.

The standard breakfast is typically German in style, with a choice of breads and fresh rolls, butter, jams, cooked meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, fruit juices, tea & coffee. For an additional charge, you can also have a cooked breakfast, of sausage (german type), bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms & grilled tomatoes.

There is a large and bright breakfast room / lounge which has a lovely open fireplace (lit every evening during the winter season), leather sofas and a small library of English & German fiction, games, puzzles, guide books and maps and wonderful views across the village rooftops to the forest beyond. All guests are welcome to use the lounge throughout their stay

The area is one of outstanding natural beauty, situated in the South East of Germany, on the border with the Czech Republic, close to Austria and the River Danube. Halfway between Munich and Prague, which along with Salzburg, Regensburg, Nuremberg and Passau, are less the 3 hours drive away, the guesthouse makes a great place for a little R&R away from the hectic sights of the big cities.

Come and enjoy the wonderful scenery of the Bayerischer Wald National Park and the Grosser Arber mountain area. The area is criss-crossed with numerous walking, mountain-biking and cycling trails, and in winter is an excellent place to ski, with both downhill and cross-country skiing well catered for.
