In 1978 the Peter Meredith family bought the Alexander Withrow House (1789), a small Inn, located in what became the Historic District of Lexington, Va. In 1982 the Old Central Hotel (1809) located across Main Street from Alexander-Withrow, was bought, renovated and carefully furnished to become McCampbell Inn. The Historic Country Inns of Lexington was formed. These two historic inns offer 22 lovely rooms and suites to guests of Historic Lexington, VMI, W & L and other visitors who wish to stay in town within walking distance of colleges, museums, shops and restaurants.
