Joan and Jo Ann, I think size of an Inn is not near as important as hospitality, guest service, attitude, etc. for a B&B. All sizes of Inns should and can work together to make a strong, effective B&B association. Out of 76 Inns who are currently members of the B&B Association of Arkansas, we have a variety of Inn sizes from 2 rooms to 17 rooms. Arkansas requires that Inns serving 10 or more meals be inspected by the State Health Inspector, but there is no legislation re: # of rooms. The key is to have active, participative members who CONTRIBUTE to your B&B association. There are currently only three out of the 76 BBAA members with 14 or more rooms. We happen to be one of those B&Bs with 16 rooms. Susan serves on the BBAA board of directors along with 11 other board members (B&Bs with 2 to 10 rooms) and has no more or less input than her fellow members. Many of the issues we address are the same for all sizes of B&Bs while some do vary with size. I would hate to think we would be excluded from this association because of our 16 rooms and like to believe we contribute in a positive way. Occasionally, it is nice to have only 2 or 3 rooms and 6 or so for breakfast, instead of our 16 rooms and 36 for breakfast on Sunday June 30.
