No politics to this one but we've just received our first bad review via mailed in comment card. We've been open since December and have had many rave reviews. I knew it would come someday and that it would be a good chance for learning and improvement and that I would deal with it constructively and maturely and all that blah, blah, blah. . . but Wow! . . . it hurts doen't it?! How come all the great reviews don't seem so important?! They complained that our French Toast a L'Orange was made with Italian bread and that we used frozen sausage (We don't use it enough and aren't big enough to buy fresh . . . it would go to waste. But we do use a very good brand!) I know that there's always a few people that won't be happy but we really try so hard to make everything wonderful for people (our place is a very nice fully restored 1740 colonial tavern that we've practically sold our souls to the devil for as well as hammered many a thumb to turn into an beautiful and welcoming inn). I'm trying very hard not to be overly-sensitive about it but doesn't it just feel like you put your whole heart and soul (the part the devil didn't get!) into your inn and then you just put it out there and hope people will approve and love it?! I'm sure all you long-on-experience innkeepers out there probably think I'm a little daft and I'm sure in a few years something like this won't bother me so much. . . but thanks for listening anyway. . . I feel much better! :-)
