Rates can vary all over the place. But many times, your own local banks can offer very competitive rates. Credit card (MC/V merchant fees are almost always a negotiable thing; you just have to be sure to compare "apples to apples" with regard to monthly minimums, servicing fees, set-up fees, per-transaction costs, equipment lease/rent/purchase pricing, whether it is a set fee or sliding scale, how long your contract is good for; do they provide advance deposit guarantees, how/where do they sit with regard to cancellation policies and guarantees, how do they handle chargebacks, how long is a contract good for, how do any MC/V International Interchange percentage increases - and they usually happen almost yearly - affect you, etc. etc. etc. PAII is reviewing several national programs right now and it will be a while before we make any decisions.
