. . . for everyones information, if each b and b owner has not called their local carrier and had a 900 block put on their telephone. They should do so immediately. I had a guest make two 900 telephone calls for a total of 20 minutes. Because I have a tracking system on my telephone system I found out immediately. Yet two problems arose. First, my local and long distance carriers are unable to tell me what the charges are for the calls. It appears that the charges are electronically transfered at the end of the month from the 900 long distance carrier. So I have had to charge an exorbitant amount of money to cover the possible expenses. Two, when talking to my local carrier to implement to 900 block, the customer service representative said that she had spoken to another bed and breakfast who had no idea which guest used the telephone for a 900 call. The bed and breakfast owner was in the middle of refuting the charges with the 900 carrier. So it is imperative that each of us protect ourselves by blocking 900 calls at the local carrier level. This is a free service that the carriers are happy to provide per the GTE representative I spoke to. Take Care Barb Hillendale Bed and Breakfast Morrison, IL 61270 e-mail: hillend@clinton.net
