>Dear Robin & Todd:
North Carolina Bed & Breakfasts and Inns does not belong to any individual
state or local chambers, however we are a member of several statewide
travel/lodging associations. If each inn pays its own dues to the chamber,
then the chamber should represent that inn individually. If the chamber
allows the association to join, then it should promote the association,
not
the individual membership unless they have paid individually, also. Do
you
have a state B&B association? If you are forming the group just for
advertising benefits, then non profit may be hard to obtain. NC is in the
process now. We have been challenged once by the IRS and have resubmitted
the application with 15 pages of attachments describing our organizations
doings. Let us know if we can help.
Sincerely,
