>How do you aquire the status of "HISTORIC INN"? Who should I contact? First, what "system" are you referring to? whom HAVE you contacted? We are historic because 1) we are old (98 years), and, because we are over 50 years old and significant in various other ways, we are on the State and National Registers. If your building is over 50 years old, and you want the official status, you could contact your state's historic preservation office (in Hawaii it falls under the State Dept. of Land and Natural Resources), or contact the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, DC, or the Dept./ of the Interior. Hope this helps Barbara Andersen Hilo's Historic Accommodation Shipman House Bed&Breakfast Inn National Register 131 Kaiulani St. ph/fax(808) 934-8002 (800) 627-8447 Hilo, Hawaii 96720 mailto:bighouse@bigisland.com On the lush, green side of Hawaii Island
