Hello! We are just in the discussion phase of a forming a B&B
association
in our area. We've sent out some questionnares to see how the interest is
and
so far we're pleased with the response. It's obvious from this message
board
that there are some excellent, well-functioning associations out there.
We're
accepting any advise from those who have gone before us on how to get up
and
running . . . ideas that have or haven't worked . . . how is your group
structured . . . how are the meetings run . . . etc.
According to the questionnare everyone seems to have pretty much the
same
goals in mind (increase our bookings, improve marketing, provide a
referral
system etc.) . . . which is comforting. A few negative comments have come
through ("I once belonged to a group like this but it didn't work very
well
because of time constraints. . . too many meetings, etc." We've also had
some
higher priced/amenitied inns hint at the fact that don't want to be
"associated" with homestay-type inns.) But overall the response has been
quick and positive. Any thoughts/advice/experiences would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ruth Callahan
