RE: innkeeping: Starting a B&B Association . . . Any Advice?

How do you make sure your member inns maintain the standards they had to
meet
for acceptance into the association. After meeting the standards one
time a
few years later they may not still meet them. Do you reinspect on a
regular
schedule? thanks, Joyce

Ede,

If I were not comfortable sending a guest to another inn, I would not
send them. I don't think I would make a big fuss, just don't recommend
them.

I do think standards are an important part of an association. There
needs to be a minimum that all members can meet. As president of your
new association, you are in a good position to keep standards on the
agenda for meetings. If people don't want to meet them, then they can
choose not to be in the association. Wisconsin is fortunate to have an
excellent standards protocol put together many years ago by volunteer
members. It is easy to be able to refer people to association members
and say, "Everyone has to meet a certain standard of quality."
