innkeeping: Open House

I am nearing the time when I will be officially opening the doors to the
Strawberry Farm Bed and Breakfast.  Are there any really good tips for
this phase?  One question I really have is, if I should I have an open
house for friends.  I live in a town of 22,000 people.  Both my husband
and I have lived here our whole lives.  The list of people we know is
endless, not to mention all the people that are just dying to see the
inside of our house.  I know it would be good advertising,  but I am
concerned with all those feet tracking through.  One positive, I have
very little carpet!!!Please give me your thoughts both pro and con on
the above.
