Anita Mathews wrote: << the only attraction close by are the wineries and just for city people to be out of the city and come to the country to relax.>> Anita, Is there something unique and interesting you could provide within your home that would be newsworthy? Think about your own talents, skills, passions and hobbies. I'll give you a few ideas from my forthcoming booklet, Secrets for Starting a Highly Profitable BUSINESS B & B in the City. My own B & B was for authors coming to Toronto to promote their books on radio and TV. As a publicist I offered all kinds of amenities and services to appeal to authors. They had access to all the office equipment they needed. For cookbook authors there was a great kitchen to prepare food for TV demonstrations. As a home economist I could do the food purchasing for them to save time between shows. I also booked interviews with TV and radio programs for them and hosted press conferences in my home. You don't have to have a BUSINESS oriented B & B.... you could offer classes and workshops on a regular basis in your home on crafts, cooking, even home parties (lingerie, cooking gadgets, home decor). I could brainstorm a huge list of possibilities for you, if you want. << How long does it take to begin to build a clientele.>> If you have a unique, newsworthy idea, some strategic newspaper or magazine coverage could bring a flood of guests. When I launched my B & B, I had to open my B & B a day early because of the bookings I got from advance press coverage.
