Large maple and black walnut trees surround the house, with perennial and herb gardens filling the sunlit areas. Whether you are looking for a quiet retreat or more active adventure, you will find it here. Built by Joshua Wood circa 1908, the house features a handsome staircase, imported French tile floor, and natural oak woodwork throughout. The inviting living room has comfortable overstuffed seating and a woodburning fireplace. Large windows afford views of the surrounding grounds. Breakfast is served in the intimate dining room or the spacious front porch in summer. The second floor has four bedrooms, each with private baths. The bedrooms have recently been refreshed with many antiques and king and queen sized mattresses. Decorated in cottage style, the third floor Eagle's Nest is a two bedroom suite with a large private sitting room. Its many windows make this sunny space a popular retreat. To our guests, Our love of cooking, gardening and entertaining started us looking for a bed and breakfast of our own. Visiting Albany House for an anniversary, we fell in love with Green County and this wonderful old house. Our goal is to create that relaxed, away from it all feeling that is so rare today.
