Innkeepers Judy and Robert Hotchkiss offer a restful, gently pampered stay to visitors. The 1889 brick mansion is backed by ancient hemlocks on a two-acre hill. A tree lined drive leads you to a world of gracious living. Sorry, no red horsehair sofas and fringe-laden valences. The oak paneling, huge archway in the foyer and woodwork throughout the public areas is native white oak and walnut -- stripped of up to six layers of paint. Soft tones and William Morris inspired design complement Judy's antique mission oak banquet table, oak rockers and genuine (c.1998) Stickley sofa. Nothing is stuffy. Relax and enjoy.
Guest rooms are large with high ceilings, polished floors and new baths with whirlpools, large showers or both. Stained glass windows. Balcony with three-state view.
