Just west of the Blue Ridge -- on the west side of the Appalachian Mountains -- sits Mountain City in the far northeastern corner of Tennessee.

Here find Prospect Hill B&B Inn in the midst of cool mountain summers, surrounded by crimson and gold leaves in autumn and glowing warmly in winter.

Innkeepers Judy and Robert Hotchkiss offer a restful, gently pampered stay to visitors. The 1889 brick mansion is backed by ancient hemlocks on a two-acre hill. A tree lined drive leads you to a world of gracious living. Sorry, no red horsehair sofas and fringe-laden valences. The oak paneling, huge archway in the foyer and woodwork throughout the public areas is native white oak and walnut -- stripped of up to six layers of paint. Soft tones and William Morris inspired design complement Judy's antique mission oak banquet table, oak rockers and genuine (c.1998) Stickley sofa. Nothing is stuffy. Relax and enjoy.

Guest rooms are large with high ceilings, polished floors and new baths with whirlpools, large showers or both. Stained glass windows. Balcony with three-state view. Staircase to a romantic bath retreat above. Gas-log fireplaces in your room or bath. Individual heating/cooling plus ceiling fans. King or queen-sized beds. Lovely colors, art and amenities.
