Experience the only AAA Fouor Diamond B&B in Mendocino. Situated on a 2-acre knoll overlooking the historic Mendocino village, this lovely home was built in 1879 by Joshua Grindle, the town banker.
Our beautifully landscaped gardens offer many places to sit and view the ocean while enjoying a picnic lunch. Our rooms all have private baths, and are located in the Main House, the Cypress Cottage, and the Water Tower. The Main House is a stately 2-story Victorian with a wraparound veranda; our saltbox Cypress cottage boasts elegant cathedral ceilings and the Water Tower is a 3-story replica with a widows-walk around the top. The rooms are furnished with Early American and Shaker antiques and have well-lighted, comfortably arranged sitting areas. Some have ocean views and several have fireplaces and deep soaking bathtubs. A full gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room around an 1830s pine harvest table. Afternoon refreshments are served in our parlor where a fireplace, an antique pump organ and a selection of games await you. Once you have arrived, forget your car-- a short walk will take you to shops, galleries, superb dining, and the rugged ocean headlands. Unwind, relax and enjoy the splendor of the magnificent North Coast at the Joshua Grindle Inn.
