Gracious & comfortable, the Black Friar is a uniquely restored Victorian home surrounded by a perennial flower garden. Mantels, bookcases, windows, and finely crafted woodwork from turn-of-the-century "cottages" on Mount Desert Island shape every part of the inn. Seven romantic guest rooms are tastefully furnished with period antiques. Fine linens dress your queen sized bed (or king -sized in the suite), soft carpets pamper your feet, and each room has a private bath. In spring & fall, there may still be a nip in the air, a special time to enjoy the warm fire & treats in our intimate "pub"--a replica of the old English standard. On crisp summer afternoons, enjoy the third floor deck, instead.
