Chipman Inn, Ripton, Vermont
Emphasizing hospitality and personal service, the Chipman Inn is small, informal and very comfortable. All nine guest rooms have private baths and are individually furnished with attractive antiques. Guests relax in our comfortable sitting room and bar, warmed in winter by a roaring fire.
Other public rooms include a sunny reading room and the candlelit dining room decorated with colonial stencilling. The inn was built in 1828 and retains many of its original features. Located in the small village of Ripton, the inn is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Green Mountain National Forest. Ripton has a number of historic buildings: the inn, church, town meeting hall, and country store make our main street a much photographed spot. The inn is fully licensed with a good wine list.
Dinner, offered most evenings is a five-course fixed price menu which varies from day to day and is always to a very high standard. A day's notice is requested from guests wishing to dine. "excellent, with an atmosphere both cozy and elegant; the feeling is of being a guest in someone's tasteful home." (The New York Times)
