Hummingbird Lodge, Glen Rose, Texas
Hummingbird Lodge is on 140 wooded acres in the hills of Somervell County, Texas. Two hours Southwest of Dallas and only an hour from Fort Worth, the lodge offers six guest rooms with private baths. The rooms and lodge are furnished with original art work, antiques, and primitive Texas furniture. In the lodge, the large living room and dining room have wood burning fireplaces and in the loft is a cozy library. The grounds have walking trails through the woods and fields and a stocked fishing pond. On Sycamore Creek, which winds through the woods, is a beautiful seasonal waterfall and just up stream is a bluff adorned with lovely green ferns in the spring and summer.
Within a thirty minute drive from the lodge are several towns offering fine shops and restaurants. Glen Rose, the county seat, is six miles east and has a quaint square with a beautifully restored courthouse. Also in the county is an outstanding 36 hole golf course and from June through October the widely acclaimed passion play "The Promise" is performed.
30 minutes North is Granbury's historic courthouse square containing wonderful shops, boutiques, galleries, and fine restaurants, as well as the famous Granbury Opera House performing musical comedies and reviews.
20 minutes Southwest is the colorful town of Hico, with great shopping and restaurants. In summer they have country & western jam sessions on the square as well as carriage rides. Lots of FUN.
