Hannibal Missouri Bed and Breakfast near Mark Twain MuseumFifth Street Mansion213 South Fifth StreetHannibal, Missouri 63401 United States 573-221-0445 800-874-5661 FAX: 573-221-3335 (Calculated from a total of 3 ratings) Rate this Inn The Mansion is one of the remnants of "Millionaires Row," an impressive block of grand homes, built and owned by some of Hannibal's wealthiest and most influential citizens. Built in 1858, it became the townhouse of John & Helen Garth, childhood chums of young Sam Clemens who remained lifelong friends of the writer. The Italianate architecture is reminiscent of an Italian country villa with the cupola on top providing a view of the Mississippi River. The interior features impressive stained glass, unique fireplaces, and original chandeliers, with large rooms featuring antiques and period decor. Some guests want to "get away from it all" and enjoy a leisurely pace in a Victorian setting. Two parlors, the library and the wrap-around porches provide inviting spots for conversation, reading, or just doing nothing. Others who want to explore the historic city may use the Mansion as a hub for varied activities. Whether seeking a romantic hideaway or a home-like setting on business trips, you will find Fifth Street Mansion offers a blend of Victorian charm and contemporary comforts with plenty of old-fashioned hospitality.
