Sealark B&B, Avalon, New Jersey

The Sealark is a beautifully restored Victorian home that was built in the last 1800's, by Elizabeth Bonsall, a wealthy Philadelphia Widow. One of the original great houses on First Avenue in the old Peermont development, we believe the Sealark was first utilized as a guest house in the 1940's. It was truly an old-fashioned guest house in that the families who lived here rented out some of the rooms to those on limited funds who wanted a weekend at "the shore."

The accommodations tend toward light and airy, rather than old, heavy Victorian. The rooms are all decorated with furniture that has been in the innkeepers' families. The hardwood floors are covered with beautiful Oriental carpets. While antiques abound, "comfort" is the feeling that one experiences during a visit to the Sealark.
