The house was purchased by Beach Beard in 1854 for his son, a paper mill owner and village President for two terms. While occupied by Henry L. Beard, the size of the house tripled. He added another parlor, two bedrooms and the servant's quarters. The house remained in the Beard family until 1988. It is an excellent example of Italianate architecture featuring curved walls in four of the major rooms. The current owners, Bruce & Mary Coleman have filled their home with comfortable antiques. For example, the TV room features the mission oak style introduced by the Stickley furniture makers of Fayetteville. The house, located in the historic district of Fayetteville, offers walking access to shopping, dining, and other historic homes including; Grover Cleveland's childhood home and the home of suffragette Matilda Gage. Full breakfast is served daily featuring Eggs Benedict, Baked Apple Pancake and fresh fruit with yogurt dressing. Five bedrooms with shared or private baths are available.
