Blockhouse Farm Bed And Breakfast, Essex, New York
Blockhouse Farm is part of an orginal King's Grant with a house built on the property in 1836. The house is on the National Historic Sites List and is a Greek Revival house sitting on a bluff overlooking the lake. The house has been completely refurbished and featured in Remodeling Magazine. There is a one hundred mile view of the lake and Green Moutains of Vermont. The owners maintain formal gardens and have just recently refurbished a barn into a summer retreat. Guests can enjoy wine and cheese on the deck or sit in the hot tub and watch for the resident eagle.
The Town of Essex is listed on the National Historic Register and has a large selection of different architectural styles. During the Revolutionary War the town served as the major shipbuilding center on the lake. The quaintness of the town and it's location on the lake make it a favorite summer site for those who enjoy the charms of Lake Champlain. Antique shops and resturants are near.
