Swans Court is located in the Hexenbukel Historic District and has been declared a certified historic structure by the Department of the Interior. Built in 1883, the house was a private residence until purchased for restoration in 1994. The large high ceilinged rooms, furnished with period antiques, return guests to the gracious lifestyle of an earlier time. Entertainment is principally of the participatory kind - games, puzzles, reed organ and conversation.

Swans Court offers guests their choice of four rooms, each with its own distinctive style: a first-floor room with an elaborate queen-sized Victorian bed and a private bath, and on the second floor an Eastlake extended-double with a private bath, a canopied larger double with a private sink which shares the bath with a converted rope bed single. Discounted rates are available for multiple night stays, multiple room bookings, and various association memberships.

Swans Court is within walking distance of shops, a movie theater, restaurants, museum houses, Belleville's three historic districts, and the state's largest cathedral. Beside the many attractions of southwestern Illinois, Swans Court is within an easy twenty minutes drive of downtown St. Louis and its sports, cultural and recreational attractions.
