The Outer Banks' only historic B& B inn affords comfortably elegant accommodations and friendly personal service at the beach. Near all major attractions, our handsome shingle-style building wrapped by unique continuous double verandas was moved to prevent its destruction and placed in the National Register of Historic Places. Antiques and traditional furnishings, king, queen, or twin beds, remote-controlled heat pumps, wetbars or kitchenettes, private tiles baths with heated towelbars and English toiletries(some with Jacuzzis) are the most pleasant imaginable. Begin your day at First Colony with breakfast in our sunny breakfast room; stroll the ocean for beachcombing, fishing, or swimming; sightsee or hike, windsurf, hangglide, take a tour or try a canoe expedition. Or just rock on the porch with a book from our library, or laze by the pool. Spend an afternoon at the NC aquarium or the Elizabethan Gardens then return for afternoon tea. After dinner enjoy a little wine while sitting on the veranda watching the sunset over Roanoke Sound.
East of US 158 at MP16, we are near Cape Hatteras National Seashore, wildlife refuges, famous for wintering Canadian waterfowl. Wild horses and more are nearby.
Honeymoons, weddings and small conferences are specialties. We can take care of all arrangements while you enjoy your event.
