Gateways Inn, Lenox, Massachusetts
The Gateways Inn is a magnificent neoclassical Country Inn, located in historic Lenox Village in the heart of the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts and reachable by car, bus and the nearest airports in Albany, Boston and Hartford.
The Gateways Inn was built in 1912 as a private summer residence of Mr. Harley Procter, of Procter & Gamble Company. It was transformed into a B & B in 1948 and is famous for the beauty of its exceptional entrance hall staircase built on designs from Stanford White.
A fine dining experience can be had in either the main dining room (a full operational Mobil 3-Star Restaurant) or the smaller intimate Rockwell Room. In the summer both lunch and dinner are offered on the lovely canopied terrace.
The Inn has 11 rooms plus a suite, all with private bath, individually controlled A/C, television and phone with jack for modems. Each spacious room has a personal character. Guests choose queen or king sized beds. Some rooms have a working fireplace. There is a fabulous authentic Victorian room with double bed and the original oversized bathtub custom made for Mr. Procter.
The spacious Fiedler Suite has a separate living room and bedroom with sumptuous king size four poster canopy bed, separate dressing room and working fireplaces in both rooms.
