Bienvenu! Gower House (circa 1894) is a completely refurbished heritage townhouse designated by the Newfoundland Historic Trust as a point of interest. Our sister house is ABBA INN, also in the historic properties area but offering larger rooms and greater amenities. Each of our rooms has twin/double/queen/beds, remote control, colour TV, sound control, clock/radio, temperature control; lighted closets; telephone; reading lamps and some unusual features eg. patterned hardwood floor; skylight, curved dormer windows in traditional design. We are in the centre of the downtown, roughly halfway between hotels Newfoundland and Delta, and a five minute walk to the Harbour, Mile 0 of the Trans Canada Highway, most resaurants, art galleries, Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Roman Catholic Basilica, Court Houses, City Hall, craft and antique shops, Commissariat House, Colonial Building, Newfoundland Archives, the Kirk, Bannerman Park, Government House - the residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland, old cemeteries, George Street night life (100 bars, discos, and live entertainment), live theatre (LPSU Hall), Rennies River Hiking Trail, the Signal Hill hiking trail, and the Provincial Museum.
