Downtown Kansas City is only 18 miles south, I-29 five miles west & Smithville Lake 8 miles east, but you'll think you're in the Ozarks. Rolling, wooded hills with walking trails, four spring-fed fishing lakes from the 1930's fish hatchery days (all bank fishing - no boats). From 1945-79 this resort was owned by a Kansas City multi-millionaire, who entertained whole Hollywood casts and many sports and political personalities including Bess & Harry Truman.

The main lodge houses 6 suites, each named after celebrities that have stayed at Basswood. Each suite contains pictures of the personalities at Basswood. Two with jacuzzi, all with mini-kitchen.

The Celebrity House has three two-bedroom suites named for the Trumans (2 jacuzzis & fireplace), Bing Crosby & Rudy Valee, with full kitchens. Plus its own meeting room makes it great for families or family reunions.

It is serenity at its best, whether you're overnighting, on business, on vacation, retreats, reunions or receptions.

The original 1935 lakeside "Mother-in-law" cottage, 2 br, full kitchen is a favorite - including wood burning fireplace, its own yard and dock - book early.

Two other meeting facilities make it perfect for small or large groups or reunions.
