The Wayside has been opened 14 years and continues as a traditional B & B Inn. A wonderfull location, historic home, great food, excellant travel advice and a relaxing atmopshere. The 1938 sugar plantation home is restored to reflect the style and hospitality of old Hawaii. A B&B where guests can "talk story" share experiences and create new friendships with travelers from around the world.
There are five vintage bedrooms, decorated for guests comfort & relaxation. Breafast is a special time to share good home cooked food and often animated conversation. The Inn offers Hamakua or Kona coffee & and over 30 different flavors of Republic of Tea- teas.
Stroll around the acer and a half of lush tropical gardens or relax on the large decks with double hammocks & swing. Or gaze at the ocean 800 feet below through the sugar cane fields.
The Hamakua coast is a area rich in history. Waipio Valley located mintues away was Hawaii's Valley of the Kings in ancient times with a mile long black sand beach and a favorite surf break. Honokaa is a western flavored town with high sidewalks and an assortment of interesting shops and places to eat.
