The elegant charms of a historic home mix with modern luxuries at La Estancia, an intimate bed and breakfast tucked away on two lush acres of citrus and palms in the tranquil Arcadia residential area. Built in 1930, this Monterey revival-style residence has been lovingly restored to its original granduer with beautiful floors and ornately decorated panel doors with attractive Art Noveau floral design.

Each bedroom has a distinctive look; the peaceful Garden room has a peach and green motif, while the Southwest room boasts over-size leather furniture perfect for relaxing. The eighteen-inch walls ensure a quiet night's sleep.

Morning brings a sumptuous breakfast. Innkeeper Ruth Maloblocki takes full advantage of the area's fresh citrus to offer delightful meals infused with lemon, orange, and grapefruit.

A swim in the inn's pool, a leisurely ride on the bicycle paths of Arcadia, and a trip to Scottsdale all make for day-long enjoyment. For a truly heavenly getaway, top it off with a cappucino on La Estancia's rooftop deck while star gazing beneath Camelback Mountain.

Accommodations Rooms have individual personalities including the Orchard View, Mountain View, Iris, Southwest, and Garden. Each has a private bath decorated with imported English tile and whirlpool tubs. Pampered guests enjoy turn-down service, with an evening chocolate set beside a comfy king-size bed plump with down comforters.

Cuisine This is a breakfast worth getting up for. Try ginger pancakes with lemon sauce or date walnut waffles, or offer your own suggestion -- personalized service is foremost at La Estancia. Refreshments are served in the afternoon.
