Kia`i Kai (Guardian of the Sea) is a tropical seashore retreat located on the spectacular Puna coast of the island of Hawaii. Kia'i Kai is a three guest room bed and breakfast. We are located 20 miles east of America's only continuously active volcano, Kilauea. Our inn is secluded, the Pacific Ocean is our front door, we are on a 25-foot cliff with a sweeping panorama of ocean and tropical shoreline. We watch whales, dolphins, flying fish and sea turtles from our guest rooms and common area which have floor to ceiling windows. Our average temperature is 82 degrees, perfect for the locally grown bananas, papaya and passion fruit served at breakfast. We entice our guests with breakfasts of Tory's Toast, 100% Kona coffee, Puna papaya with Tahatian lime and starfruit-pineapple juice. The inn has a large selection of books on the volcano, local flora, birds, and local hiking trails. Exercise in our 55 foot lap pool before a delicious breakfast or relax in our hot tub after a day of sightseeing. Both are located in the "Pele" sculptured lava over looking the Pacific Ocean. You can also sit on the lanai and watch the moonlight dance on the water. Come and enjoy paradise and the aloha of Hawaii.
