Jackson House Inn, Woodstock, Vermont

The Jackson House was built with devotion and pride in 1890 by Wales Johnson, a local sawmill owner. His aim was to erect the finest example of late Victorian architecture possible. Floors of cherry and maple rival fine furniture, walls, and mouldings of the finest workmanship.

In 1940, the building was bought by the Jacksons, who opened it as a guest house called The Seven Maples Tourist Home. The third owners, Jack Foster and Bruce McIlveen bought the property in 1983, and restored it to the high level of quality originally created by Wales Johnson. The guest rooms are each furnished in antiques of a different style and gracious period.

The natural outdoor beauty of the almost five acres comprising the gardens augment the feeling of calm and the character of the Inn. Winding through the spacious gardens and meadow, you cross an arched bridge over a brook to a pond, home to the resident snow geese, ducks, and trout.

In 1996, we bought the Inn from Jack and Bruce to take it to its next level of excellence. Larger rooms with fireplaces, and a small four star restaurant will enhance the quality of your stay.
