Inn At The Canal, Chesapeake City, Maryland
Chesapeake City Maryland Romantic Bed and Breakfast on the Upper Eastern Shore
Located in the heart of a state and National Historic District on the banks of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal is this grand Victorian built in 1868. This lovely home was built to celebrate the birth of a son. Fine architectural and decorative details which bespeak the wealth and grandeur still remain today. Twelve foot ceilings showcase the original handpainted and stenciled designs, surprisingly Egyptian. One enters through a grand, solid walnut door to see a center hall with maple floor and a winding open staircase to the third floor. Both dining room and parlor boast floor to ceiling windows. The porches offer the best seats for watching passing ships or listening to summer concerts. The gardens are in bloom from spring to late fall. The month of December brings guests back year after year to enjoy the extensive decorations and antique toy collection.
