Historic Country Inns Of Lexington, Lexington, Virginia
In 1978 the Peter Meredith family bought the Alexander Withrow House (1789), a small Inn, located in what became the Historic District of Lexington, Va. In 1982 the Old Central Hotel (1809) located across Main Street from Alexander-Withrow, was bought, renovated and carefully furnished to become McCampbell Inn. The Historic Country Inns of Lexington was formed. These two historic inns offer 22 lovely rooms and suites to guests of Historic Lexington, VMI, W & L and other visitors who wish to stay in town within walking distance of colleges, museums, shops and restaurants. In 1984 Maple Hall (1850), plantation home of Maple Hill Plantation, was bought, completely restored and carefully furnished. A swimming pool, tennis court, fishing pond, walking trails and gracious gardens added to the 56 acres located conveniently at the I95 exit off 1-81 onto Rt. 11 North, six miles from Lexington. This third inn welcomes many weddings, college and family reunions, business conferences (4-40), and valued guests, 21 rooms and suites in three different buildings plus the intimate gourmet dining rooms open nightly make this an inviting place to visit for many reasons.
