Devonport Villa Inn is in the heart of Devonport. Our landmark home has been described as a "Christmas cake" of a house whose embellishments (some of them - like the tower - quite eccentric) reflect the wealth of the man who built it 94 years ago, Dr Frederick Norton. We have extensively restored our home to provide the amenities of modern day living without sacrificing the all important character and charm of the bygone Edwardian era. Enjoy our guest lounge with its amazing vaulted ceiling, polished native timber floor, outstanding stained glass windows, comfortable furnishings and an extensive library. Complimentary tea, coffee and sherry are available. There is a choice of 7 warm, comfortable, spacious rooms all with private bathrooms. Each is individually decorated with delightful handmade patchwork quilts, firm queensize beds, cosy woollen blankets, period-style bedheads, lace curtains, fine colonial furniture and fresh flowers. The Gold Room has an ornate metal ceiling and stained glass windows, the unique upstairs Turret Room is sunny and romantic and the Rangitoto Suite is a favourite with honeymooners.

Two minutes away is Cheltenham Beach. Enjoy a stroll before a delectable breakfast which may include freshly squeezed juice, seasonal fruits, kiwifruit muffins, Belgian waffles, heavenly homemade muesli, bacon and eggs and preserves served in our china blue dining room overlooking the garden. Step through French doors to the symmetrically designed shell courtyard and smell the fragrant old roses.

We are both "kiwis" with a good knowledge of our native country and we would love to meet you. For the comfort of all guests smoking is not permitted in the house. Fax and E-mail available.
