"Capture the Past" fits our Bed and Breakfast Inn. It hints at the elegance and nostalgia of yesteryear. The historic home of the first Mayor is a peaceful refuge right in downtown Anchorage. It sits pretty on a well-manicured lawn among flowers and blossoming trees: limegreen gables with a white trim like a ballroom dress with a darker green fringe of wooden shakes. The house, built in 1917, looks at its prime in fresh spring colors. The view is riveting. You would not hesitate spending a snowy day inside the plush surroundings. On a bluff, overlooking the Alaska Range and Cook Inlet, you see marine life. Depending on the season, Beluga whales frolic near the shore. Seagulls land and fly away, light as origami birds. Tug boats, freight carriers, barges, glide on the waters colored with ever changing sunsets and unforgettable scenaries. Step inside into a museum of art pieces, welcoming sitting rooms and library. Wander leisurely and feel how the David Family lived 80 years ago. On the way to the bedrooms, take notice of the clawfoot tubs, pedestal sinks and soft lights mirrored in the smooth marble tiles. Look around, pause and reflect.
