Mitchell'S Motel & Cottages, Highlands, North Carolina
Mitchell's Motel & Cottages has been a family owned and operated inn since Al's grandmother built the original cabins in 1939. We are situated in the woods beside a small lake and stream only 2 blocks from downtown. We offer pine paneled rooms with wormy chestnut handmade beds with quilts that give the rooms a nice "log cabin" feel. Our fireplace suites give our guests extra room with a stone fireplace and a full kitchen. We also offer 1,2 or 3 bedroom cottages and cabins that offer the same rustic charm that Mrs. Mitchell gave her first guests, but also give our guests the comfortable stay that we all expect today.
Highlands is a small town that is situated on top of a mountain that has an average altitude of 4,118 ft. above sea level. We are only a 2 hour drive from Atlanta, Ga. or Greenville,SC . Because we are so close to the large southern cities and have such a cooler climate from those cities, Highlands has become a very popular summer resort to escape the heat. Highlands is surrounded by National Forest land and has several waterfalls only a couple of miles from town. We hope you come up yo see us soon!
