By The Old Mill Stream B&B, Hinesburg, Vermont
Cascading waterfall and lush gardens surround our home, built 130 years ago. History abounds, with original tin ceilings, wide pine flooring, and lots of nooks and crannies. The house was originally built for a woolen mill owner in the 1860's. A short walk out back brings you to the waterfall and stream that once powered his mill and to the stonework of his & other mills. A movie documentary on the water-powered mills is available to guests.
A short drive brings you to Burlington, Vermont. Burlington is on Lake Champlain and offers a bike/rollerblade recreation path along the waterfront, sailing & windsurfing, a charming brick-lined pedestrian shopping mall, fabulous selection of restaurants, concerts, and festivals. Shelburne Museum, also nearby, is a favorite among our guests, as is Shelburne Farms. Ben & Jerry's ice cream and Vt. Teddy Bear tours are nearby.
Breakfast is served on the back deck overlooking the waterfall, weather permitting. Feast on seasonal specialties using locally-grown products -- Belgian waffles with fresh fruit, pumpkin-gingerbread pancakes, and eggs Benedict.
