The Apple Orchard Inn, although resembling a century-old Colorado farmhouse behind an old apple orchard, was built in 1994 to be a B&B. In 1996, six quaint cottages were built surrounded by gardens, streams and ponds on 4-1/2 acres. Whether it is from the large pondside patio or from a private porch on a cottage, guests can enjoy the views of the Animas River Valley and surrounding mountains or watch the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Train chug by.
Each room and cottage is furnished with elegant country furniture and featherbeds. Some rooms have fireplaces and whirlpool bathtubs or private patios. A hearty breakfast is prepared by Celeste and served by husband John. Homemade breads and goodies are a specialty and accompany each breakfast. Candlelight gourmet dinners are also available by advance reservation and are prepared by Celeste who has European training.
The Apple Orchard Inn has been awarded the American Automobile Association Four Diamond Award for Excellence, one of only three bed & breakfasts to receive this distinction in the state of Colorado.
