Built in 1893 by William P. Chaffinch, the house is a lovely old Queen Anne Victorian. Located in the historic district of Easton, it is within easy walking distance of the many wonderful antique shops, fine boutiques and restaurants of the town. Staying at the Chaffinch House takes you back to yesteryear, abounding as it does with Victorian gables, bays and oriels. This two-and-a-half story building has a octagonal tower, a keyhole window and a wraparound porch. Passing through its public rooms you will see a house that boasts of hardwood floors, molding, mantels and architectural details of a time gone by. There is a beautiful raised panel oak staircase with a pair of miniature bronze torcheres resting on the newel posts. Period furnishings are found throughout the house. Happily, the refurbishing always kept the guest in mind and the house has been equipped with the latest in creature comforts. Every room has central air conditioning and ceiling fans. The house also has an integrated smoke alarm and overhead sprinkler system. As comfortable as you will be in the peace and quiet of the Chaffinch House, we nevertheless urge you to sample the wonderful ambiance of the area. The colonial seaports of St. Michael's, Oxford and Cambridge are just minutes away. There you will find museums, antique shops, boutiques and seafood restaurants with fare that will make your mouth water. If you wish a more active visit, arrangements can be made for golf, tennis or boating.
