Desert Island, our quaint village is surrounded by Acadia National Park, and right in the midst of some of the finest lobster fishing in Maine. Seawall picnic grounds, and many Acadia hiking trails are just a short drive from our door. Rent a kayak and paddle around SW Harbor into Somes Sound or out to the Cranberry Islands. The Great Harbor Marina, just a short walk from your door, offers fresh baked breads, Off-Broadway Cabaret Theater, Maine outfitters, and a view of floating slips with some of the world's finest sailing craft built right here in Southwest Harbor. Our sunrises here are spectacular! Guest Quarters (Chickadee's Nest) is in the Annex of our cedar shingled summer house. With its queen bed, chaise, old fashioned wardrobe, large closet, cable TV, half bath, and all windows with a glimpse of the harbor, your sleeping quarters are well equipped for your holiday comfort. The downstairs sitting room's informal ambience is charmingly furnished in Country Decor; there are loads of books and games for the occasional rainy day; your microwave, small refrigerator, toaster oven and coffee maker provide ample space and facility for breakfast and lunch prep; your full shower/tub bath on this floor. Private Guest entrance is accessed through the rock garden & picnic yard. A gas grill is available to you for suppertime cookouts. Parking is provided. Complimentary, freshly baked blueberry muffins or scones will be delivered to your door your first morning in residence.
