Pincushion is the longest established B&B (1986) in the North Shore and Gunflint Trail areas. Just three miles from Grand Marais’s renowned harbor, restaurants, shops, and galleries. Four charming wood paneled guest rooms, each with private bath. Most rooms have views of sunrises over Lake Superior. The spacious beamed common area with fireplace and attached deck is a popular place to relax. Every morning at Pincushion begins with a delicious breakfast. Some typical day-starters: Warm fruit compote, wild rice vegetable frittata, homemade muffins, or; chilled fruit soup, baked apple pancake and turkey sausage. The Pincushion Trail, maintained in summer for hiking and biking, directly links to the Superior Hiking Trail at the B&B’s doorstep. For canoeists, BWCA entry points are 30 minutes away. In winter, the 25 kilometer Pincushion Trail transforms into a cross country ski trail system. Ski, snowshoe rentals and lessons are available. Whatever the season, Pincushion is a peaceful retreat enjoyed by hikers, canoeists, bikers, cross country skiers, snowshoers and folks who simply need to get away.
