The Cooke Tavern Bed & Breakfast is a magnificient 2 story Georgian style Brick home built in 1808 by James Cooke. It was operated as a tavern and inn from 1808-1870. It is now a beautifully restored Bed & Breakfast and again a favorite resting stop for travelers. This grand house boasts a spectacular 3 story open winding staircase, 7 fireplaces, 11 foot ceilings, original locks and hardware, wide yellow pine floors, interesting architectural woodwork, and beautifully decorated, hand-painted stenciled rooms.

The Cooke Tavern offers a choice of 3 spacious rooms. Two rooms are 17' X 17' and are seperated by large French doors ~ these rooms once served as the Tavern's Ballroom. One room has a King size bed and one has a Queen size bed- they are priced at $95.00/night (non-peak) and $125.00/night (peak). One room is 10' X 17' and has a Full size bed which is priced at $85.00/night (non-peak) and $115.00 (peak).

Enjoy a long relaxing soak in our 2 person Roman style jacuzzi tub and a wonderful gourmet candlelight breakfast. Take a walk on our 40 acre property through our Wetlands to fish in Penn Creek, feed the ducks, or just enjoy the natural setting.

Your hosts are Mary Kay & Greg Williams, Penn State Alumni, who returned to "Happy Valley" when they found and purchased this property in 1991. They have completed restored the property to it's orginal grandeur. In 1995, they were honored with the Centre County Historical Society's "Excellence in Historic Preservation Award".

We are members of the Mid-State Bed & Breakfast Association, the Centre County Visitors Bureau and the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County.
