We are a family owned and operated Country Inn whose goal is to create an atmosphere similar to the early 1900's when the inn was first built. The Inn is a favorite Vermont vacation destination and is especially popular for country weddings, wedding receptions, civil unions, family reunions, and romantic weekend getaways. Mahogany paneling, sweeping three-story staircase, wooden ceiling beams, fireplaces, and antiques decorate this inn which was the former Vermont governor's mansion. With 43 rooms and an award-winning restaurant, we can host all your affairs.
The Hartness House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for many reasons. We house an antique 1910 turret equatorial telescope still in operation today built by James Hartness. Reach it via the 250' underground tunnel and underground 5 room museum which we give tours of nightly at 6:00 pm. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, poolside deck, 35 acres of nature trails along mountain streams lounge and full service restaurant. We also have 43 guest rooms to choose from all equipped with telephone and voicemail, air conditioning, remote control color television and private baths. Our restaurant serves the finest in local produce and other Vermont specialties. Our chef hails from the Culinary Institute of America and has worked in some of the finest restaurants in downtown Boston.
