WHERE IN AMSTERDAM ARE WE? The Jordaan is a long time working-class section of central Amsterdam which has recently become popular with artists and young families because it is so close to the action, but remains quiet. Calendula's house is located less than 10 minutes on foot from the Anne Frank House, but there are so many interesting things to see on the way that it may take you a while to get there. Easy walks along tree-lined canals allow you to admire old houses, shops and cafe's for 15 minutes before you arrive at the heart of the tourist zone -- Dam Square (Queen's Palace), Red Light District, Rembrantsplein or Leidseplein nightclub areas.
