Comfort Common, Comfort, Texas
The Comfort Common was designed by noted architect, Alfred Giles, as an eight room hotel. Built in 1880, it was doubled with an additional wing in 1894. Wide verandas open onto a tree-shaded courtyard in the rear, complete with a c. 1894 gazebo. The hotel is located in the center of a large historical district listed on The National Register of Historic Places.
The hotel has suites, rooms and cottages, all with private baths. Each room is decorated with antiques in styles ranging from American country to garden to cowboy kitsch.
The first floor of the hotel features numerous rooms of tastefully displayed antiques of the finest in American country including: furniture, garden items, architectural pieces, quilts, rugs, primitives and accessories.
The Comfort Common has been featured in numerous magazines and travel publications including: Southern Living, Travel and Leisure, America's Wonderful Little Hotels and Inns, Country Home, Texas Highways, The Dallas Morning News and The Houston Chronicle.
