Paradox Lodge, Lake Placid, New York
Built in 1899 and located on Paradox Bay on Lake Placid, Paradox Lodge provides a quiet and comfortable atmosphere for guests. Once used as a lodge in the early 50's for summer guests, the building was later abandoned and left vacant for 30 years until the current owners/ innkeepers purchased it in April 1998 and began the long and laborious task of renovations. Today, four rooms are available on a year round basis, each decorated in its own unique style featuring handmade Adirondack furniture , antiques, ceiling fans, beautiful quilts, down comforters, and lots of pillows. Downstairs is a comfortable living room area where guests may lounge and relax before dinner is served. A large covered porch with comfortable wicker chairs is a nice place to watch the setting sun. Or you may prefer to sit down by the lake and enjoy the view of Whiteface Mountain. There are two dining rooms adjacent to the kitchen where breakfast and dinner are served. Dinner reservations are taken on a first come first served basis.
