Taos mountain is our backyard. Hacienda del Sol consists of three adobe buildings dating back to 1804. Situated on 1.2 acres, the hacienda adjoins 95,000 acres of Taos Pueblo land, and Taos Mountain, considered sacred by the Taos Indians, provides a commanding backdrop to our backyard.
Latilla fencings and adobe walls surround our beautifully landscaped grounds.Though Hacienda del Sol means "House of the Sun" in Spanish, towering cottonwoods. elms,willows and blue spruce shade our hacienda in the summertime.
Our history is as colorful as our gardens. When you enter the front gates of Hacienda del Sol, you are literally stepping into the artistic history of Taos itself. For many years the adobe was owned by Taos' legendary art patroness, Mabel Dodge Lujan and her fourth husband, Tony,a T Taos Pueblo Indian.
We pamper you right from the start with freshly ground coffee and our famous gourmet breakfast prepared by our chef Elton.
We are made for romance with distinctly decorated rooms each with an assortment of original art, antiques and local treasures. Some rooms contain fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs, steamrooms and other romantic touches.
